The Never never by Superman...

Superman writes….
We had been staying at Elsey National Park and Murray suggested a visit to the Saturday market at Mataranka and a look at the characters from the book;  We of the Never Never by Jeannie Gunn.
The market was no -where to be found-but the book characters were standing tall in the park. I had my photo taken with Bett -Bett, Jeannie and her husband and Cheon the chinese cook.

The next day, back at camp I met Andy Matapo from the Cook Islands, ex Mangere-Auckland. We, well Brenda and Andy had something in common-they both knew Ian George-Ian had been Andy’s art teacher while he was at high school in the Cook Islands. Brenda took a photo of Andy and I – Andy had written a message for Ian “Hi Dooda – still drawing”- hoping someone will send Ian this blog posting.

Uncle Jum has adopted Muz-probably sees a likeness. Uncle Jum is the same person who wrote his name on our wood with a texter.  As you all know wood and water are precious commodities out bush.

On our way to Daly Waters we stopped at Larrimah-famous for the Pink Panther Pub-these bush pubs compete for business-there is a pictorial book written about Australian Bush Country Pubs and we have met campers who are following the circuit and having each page signed by the licensee.
The Pink Panther Pub has a very run down zoo-at least the birds and animals had fresh food on their plates, but I wouldn’t like to live there.

There was a pool and a table-but both had seen better days.
